Dashboard: exporting raw data

How to export your historical data, analyze your raw data

The option to export the data from your Wave/Wave Plus/Wave Mini is available from the Airthings Dashboard!

Step 1: Login to the Airthings Dashboard with the same credentials as you use for your Airthings Wave App.


Step 2: Download the data from your device as a csv file.

  • Select the data set (or room name) from your device by clicking on it.

    Note: your dashboard may appear differently from the photo below, as the dashboard contains personalised tiles.

  • Click on the download icon on the upper right hand side and select "Export to csv"

NOTE: the timestamps in the csv file are automatically in UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) so please take this into consideration when viewing your data.

  • This starts the download, now you have the data set from your device available as a csv file, it looks something like this depending on what program you use to view it:

Please note that the radon sensor updates hourly, therefore, you will not see a radon value for each 5 minute timestamp.

Step 3: Importing the csv file into a spreadsheet:

You can import the file into:

  • Google sheets

  • Excel

Once you have the .csv file download in your preferred location:

1. Start Google Sheets with a blank spreadsheet open.

2. Select "File" on the ribbon, and then "Import".

3. Click on "Upload" and then "Select a file from your computer".

4. Once you have uploaded the .csv file and clicked "Select", the import menu will open.

5. Choose between "Create new spreadsheet" or "Replace spreadsheet"

6. Set "Separator type" to "Custom" and input semicolon (;).

7. Click "Yes" on "Convert text to numbers and dates".

8. When you are done, click "Import data".

Your finished result will look something like this:

As you can see on the picture above, the csv includes:
Date, time, hourly radon sample, humidity and temperature.

The column called short term average is simply the average radon concentration for that hour per m3 or L depending on what measurement units you have configured under settings.

EXCEL - how to import a csv file (with correct formatting)

Once you have the .csv file download in your preferred location:

1. Start Excel with a blank workbook open.

2. Select "Data" on the ribbon, and then "From Text". (If the menu options are greyed out this could be because you do not have a workbook open).

3. Browse for the *.csv file you want to open, and click "Import".

4. In the Text import wizard, ensure the "Delimited" option is selected. Click "Next."

5. In the delimiters section, tick "Other" and set the input as semicolon (;). The text qualifier box should show the double-quote symbol. Click "Next."

6. Mark every columns as "Text". The first column only will initially be highlighted. Move the horizontal cursor as far as it will go to the right; then, holding the shift key down, click the very last column heading. You should now have every column highlighted. Click the "Text" data format. It will now say "Text" in the header of every column. Click "Finish."

7. It may ask you "Where do you want to put the data?". It will allow you to click into any cell on the blank worksheet to determine where the data should go. Click 'OK' to proceed.

8. The data should now appear in the spreadsheet. Where column headings are included these will appear in the top row. Check that fields have not lost leading zeros where applicable.

Your finished results should look something like this:
