When do the sensors update? Why do I see different values on the display compared to the app?

Updated over a week ago

View series monitors contain up to 7 sensors and they each have their own sampling rates. However, we have added a few options to the sensor sampling rates and cloud upload functionality in order to give the option of extending battery life.

There is a difference between how often the sensors take samples and how often the information becomes visible in the dashboard and app, depending on the setup you decide to have.

Regardless of the setup, the following sensors take physical samples every 2.5 minutes:

  • temperature

  • humidity

and these sensors take samples every 5 minutes:

  • air pressure

  • VOCs

  • CO2

While radon is always sampled hourly (as part of the rolling 24-hour average).

This sensor data will always be up-to-date locally on the display of View Plus.

However, the options you have with View Plus affect the sampling rate of the PM sensor, and how often all sensor data is uploaded to the cloud.

When View Plus is battery-operated:

When battery-operated, there are two options for how often the PM sensor takes samples of the air:

  • Every 10 minutes

  • Hourly

You can configure these settings by following the directions here. This will also affect how often all other sensor data becomes visible in the app and dashboard. For example, if you select hourly for the configuration, the 2.5 and 5-minute samples from the other sensors mentioned above will become visible in the dashboard once 1 hour has passed. It does not mean that the temperature, humidity, and CO2 sensors, etc... stop taking samples every 2.5/5 minutes.

When View Plus is connected to power via USB:

The PM sensor will automatically take samples every 2.5 minutes, and cloud uploads will also occur every 2.5 minutes. The other sensors will continue to take samples every 2.5/5 minutes, and hourly for radon, as described above. It is not possible to adjust the sampling intervals or cloud uploads when connected to USB.

Important to remember!

If you have selected an hourly data frequency, you will see differences between the display of the View Plus and the app/dashboard for the following sensors:

  • temperature

  • humidity

  • air pressure

  • VOCs

  • CO2

This is because the View Plus display will show the most recent measurements taken every 2.5 or 5 minutes, while the data only updates every hour in the app/dashboard.
