π‘ US customers only. The TrueMed reimbursement option is available exclusively on the Airthings store in the United States, and for eligible products. The TrueMed button appears on your order confirmation page after a successful purchase.
π³ What are HSA and FSA accounts?
HSA (Health Savings Account) is a tax-advantaged account linked to high-deductible health plans. Funds roll over year to year and can be used for qualified medical expenses.
FSA (Flexible Spending Account) is an employer-provided benefit account for qualified healthcare costs. Funds are typically use-it-or-lose-it within the plan year.
Both account types let you pay for eligible health-related expenses with pre-tax dollars. For certain purchases like radon and air quality monitors, your plan administrator may require a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) to approve the reimbursement claim.
π€ Who is TrueMed?
TrueMed is an independent third-party service that evaluates whether a purchase may qualify for HSA/FSA reimbursement. If you meet their eligibility criteria, assessed through a short health intake questionnaire, TrueMed will issue you a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN).
Airthings has partnered with TrueMed to make this process easy to start directly from your order confirmation page. TrueMed operates independently and makes all eligibility decisions on their own.
π How it works: step by step
β
Step 1: Purchase your Airthings product as normal
Complete your order on the Airthings US store. Pay with your usual payment method at checkout. No HSA or FSA card is needed at this step.
π Step 2: Click the "Get qualified now" button on your order confirmation page
Click it to fill out a short health questionnaire and find out if you qualify for an LMN.
π¬ Step 3: Receive your Letter of Medical Necessity
If approved, TrueMed will email you an LMN, typically within 24 hours. This document is issued directly by TrueMed, not Airthings.
πΈ Step 4: Submit your claim to your HSA or FSA administrator
Take your Airthings receipt (and LMN if required by your plan) and submit a reimbursement claim to your HSA or FSA provider. Airthings is not involved in this final step.

β Frequently asked questions
Is reimbursement guaranteed if I get an LMN?
No. TrueMed issues an LMN when you meet their eligibility criteria, but whether your claim is approved depends on your HSA or FSA administrator and your specific plan rules. Reimbursement policies vary between providers and employers. Neither Airthings nor TrueMed can guarantee that your claim will be approved.
Can I pay directly with my HSA or FSA card at checkout?
Not at this time. The current process is a reimbursement model. You pay as usual at checkout, complete the TrueMed process after purchase, and then submit your receipt and LMN to your HSA or FSA provider to request reimbursement.
Can Airthings provide the Letter of Medical Necessity?
No. The LMN is issued exclusively by TrueMed through their independent eligibility process. Airthings is not able to provide, sign, or supplement an LMN on your behalf.
Where do I find the TrueMed form after I order?
The TrueMed button appears on your order confirmation page immediately after a successful checkout on the Airthings US store. It is shown only for eligible products. If you missed it, we recommend contacting TrueMed directly through their website to ask about starting the process after the fact.
How long does it take to receive the LMN?
If your application is approved by TrueMed, you can typically expect to receive your Letter of Medical Necessity by email within approximately 24 hours of completing the intake form.
Is this available outside the United States?
No. The TrueMed integration and HSA/FSA reimbursement process is only available through the Airthings US store. HSA and FSA accounts are US-specific benefit programs.
Does my product need to be for medical use to qualify?
TrueMed's intake questionnaire is designed to assess whether your purchase may qualify as a medically necessary expense under HSA/FSA guidelines, for example monitoring radon or air quality for health reasons. TrueMed makes all eligibility determinations independently based on your responses.
