Recommended Batteries and Maintenance for Airthings View Series Devices
Airthings View series devices, including the View Plus, View Radon, and View Pollution, are designed to operate efficiently with specific types of batteries. This article provides detailed guidance on battery selection, usage, and maintenance to ensure optimal device performance.
Recommended Battery Types
For all Airthings View series devices, use the following battery specifications:
Type: AA LR6 1.5V alkaline batteries (non-rechargeable)
Recommended Brands: High-quality options such as Duracell or Energizer are preferred for optimal performance.
Quantity: Each device requires six AA batteries.
Our device is not optimized for using rechargeable or lithium batteries:
- even though lithium batteries will give you longer battery life, our battery level model will not be accurate
- rechargeable batteries will have a shorter lifetime.
Battery Life and Usage
The battery life for Airthings View series devices can be extended up to two years (with adequate settings in the web dashboard) However, the standard lifespan may vary depending on the measurement frequency and usage patterns. For example, more frequent measurements may reduce battery life.
Power Source Options
Airthings View devices can be powered in two ways:
Battery Power: The primary power source is six AA alkaline batteries.
USB Power Mode: Devices can also be powered via USB-C. In this mode, the batteries act as a backup power source, ensuring uninterrupted operation during power outages. If your device is powered by USB, you can safely remove the batteries from your device.
Troubleshooting Battery Issues
If your device goes offline, it may be due to a battery issue. Follow these steps to troubleshoot:
Check Battery Orientation: Ensure the batteries are inserted correctly, with proper alignment of positive and negative terminals.
Inspect Battery Contacts: Clean the battery terminals to ensure good contact.
Replace Batteries: Use six new AA alkaline batteries if the current ones are depleted.
Wait for Updates: After replacing or reinserting batteries, it may take up to an hour for the device to update its battery status in the Airthings app.
General Maintenance Tips
Always use high-quality, non-rechargeable alkaline batteries for optimal performance.
Avoid mixing old and new batteries or different brands.
Store spare batteries in a cool, dry place to maintain their shelf life.
Regularly check the battery compartment for any signs of corrosion or damage.
By following these guidelines, you can ensure that your Airthings View series devices operate reliably and efficiently.
