Updated this week

General Questions

Which app am I using now?

The old app is called Wave Gen 1* and the new app is called Airthings. Here's what they look like:

Wave Gen 1 app - retired

Airthings app - get it now!

*On some Android devices the old app may appear on your home screen as Airthings and not Wave Gen 1.

Why has the old app been retired?

We released the first Airthings Wave app back in 2016 along with our very first smart monitor. But in order to deliver the richer experiences we wanted to, it became necessary to build a whole new app from the ground up.

Now, we can focus on the future-proof and feature-rich experience the new Airthings app enables.

What happens if I don’t switch to the new app before the retirement date?

Nothing, really. Your monitors will continue to collect your air quality information. When you get the new app you only need to log into your account and your data history will all be there. You will need to sync with any Bluetooth monitors that have not synced new data in a while.

Can I continue to use the old app?

No, the old app will stop working (monitors will not sync) and it will not be possible to log in.

About the new Airthings app

Is the app free?

Yes, it's completely free of charge.

Will it work with my Airthings monitor?

Yes, all Airthings smart monitors for home use are supported. This includes all View series and Wave series monitors, as well as Renew air purifier and Corentium Home 2.

What new features are available in the new app?

You’ll find a refreshed design, improved syncing performance, detailed graphs with timestamps, Focuses, dark mode and more. You can also share the gift of fresh air using the Refer a friend feature in the user settings menu. For users of View monitors, the new app also lets you show up to four values on your monitor’s display.

What languages are available in the new app?

The new Airthings app is currently available in English and French. We are looking into supporting other languages in the future.

Is the new app available on all platforms?

Yes, the new app is available on iOS and Android.

Making the switch

How do I switch to the new app?

Simply download the Airthings app from your app store. Then log in with your existing credentials, and you’re good to go. All of your homes, devices and data history will be there. Make sure you use the correct email address to log in!

Do I need to uninstall the old app before installing the new one?

No, there is nothing preventing you from having both apps installed concurrently. However, we recommend uninstalling the old app once you've successfully logged into the Airthings app.

Troubleshooting and support

Why am I getting an “Invalid user” error when I try to log in to the Airthings app?

It’s possible that you are using the wrong email address. Confirm the correct email by opening the old app and looking at your Account details.
